Hey Iwan,
After testing tons of AI SEO strategies across multiple client sites…
I found that only 7 actually moved the needle. The rest are just noise.
On one client site, these exact strategies drove a 2,300% increase in AI traffic…
And took them from zero to 90 keywords appearing in Google's AI Overviews.
Here are the 7 tactics you can implement right away:
1. Target conversational queries
Short-tail keywords rarely trigger AI Overviews. Natural questions do.
Example:
Wrong: "15-minute home workout"
Right: "What's a quick 15-minute workout I can do at home without equipment?"
Use the "People Also Ask" box on Google to find these. Add them as H2s and answer them directly.
2. Structure content with clear headings
Stick to this format:
- One H1 that states the topic clearly
- H2s for key questions or sections
- H3s for supporting points within each section
3. Be direct and concise
AI models prefer factual, scannable writing.
Vague or metaphorical language gets ignored.
Example:
Wrong: "When Earth freezes over, pigs might fly"
Right: "Heat pumps work the same in winter as in summer"
4. Add summary sections at the top
Include either:
- A TLDR with 2 to 3 sentences
- A bullet list of key takeaways
Place them at the beginning of the article to help AI extract key insights fast.
5. Monitor your brand across AI platforms
Ask ChatGPT, Gemini, or Copilot these prompts:
- "What can you tell me about [your brand]?"
- "What does [your brand] do?"
If the answers are inaccurate, update your site's About page, FAQs, and third-party listings.
AI models pull from these sources to shape how they describe your brand.
6. Show real expertise
Add signals that prove authority:
- Expert bios with credentials
- Case studies with data
- Industry certifications
- Citations from reputable sites
7. Highlight reviews and social proof
On one law firm site, adding Google reviews was the only change we made.
Their rankings improved in both traditional and AI results.
Best practices:
- Display reviews prominently
- Respond to all comments, even negative ones
- Engage with questions on forums and social
