Hey Iwan,
I've been running SEO tests since 2009, and there's one ranking factor that's becoming impossible to ignore.
The sites that don't have it? They get wiped out in every Google update.
But the sites that do? They're getting more traffic than ever.
Every SEO pro agrees that it's the most critical ranking factor in 2025…
What am I talking about?
Brand Search Volume.
When people actively search for your brand, Google sees you as a recognized authority.
So, how do you build it?
Here's what's working for me across dozens of client sites:
1. Job listings
Potential applicants WILL Google your name.
- Next time you have new hire openings, post your job listing on your website and various job boards.
- Tell them to apply, search for your brand name, and then they can click on the jobs link in the nav bar.
2. Social Media & Email Marketing
The more people see your name in their inbox, on their feed, or in discussions, the more likely they are to search for it later.
- Build an email list and send valuable content consistently.
- Repurpose content across LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and Facebook to stay visible.
- Post insights, case studies, and hot takes that make people want to Google your brand.
3. Get Listed in "Best of" Articles
When someone Googles "Best X", they often land on roundup articles.
If they see your brand there, they'll likely search for you directly.
- Reach out to websites and get your brand included in top-ranking listicles.
- Create your own viral roundup lists on LinkedIn, Reddit, and Twitter (e.g., "10 Best SEO Minds in 2025" featuring yourself).
- Run guest posts on industry blogs where your brand name gets mentioned naturally.
4. Run Low-Cost PPC Ads
Cheap PPC ads can drive brand search queries fast.
Plus, Google favors brands that have a multi-channel presence.
- Run cheap engagement ads on the target country you're trying to rank in.
- Leverage PPC traffic to create brand awareness that leads to organic search volume.
5. Content marketing
General content marketing puts your brand in front of a new audience and gets people searching.
- Post on YouTube to build brand inquiry faster than any other medium.
- Guest post on sites that are already getting traffic.
- Appear on podcasts as a guest.
- Get mentioned by influencers with a large follower base.
It's simple: Google takes notice when people are searching for your brand.
And if they're not...well, good luck at the next core update.
To your continued success,
Matt Diggity
